Traditional Underpin

Underpinning is a process that aims to strengthen foundations of structures were the current structure no longer has suitable foundations to hold it or its usage has changed and the foundations are not suitable for this purpose.

This is also required in the unfortunate event of subsidence or severe flooding.
Underpinning may be accomplished by extending the foundation in depth or breadth so it either rests on a more supportive soil stratum or distributes its load across a greater area.

Needle Beams

A pile installed either side of the original foundation. A ring beam is then placed under the original foundation and on top of the piles. This technique is generally used if there is internal access for piles inside the building.

Cantilever Beams

When internal access is restricted two piles and a concrete ring beam are used. One side of the ringbeam is placed on top of the piles with the other end installed in a pocket under the foundation.

Cemplast offer a range of piling systems which are a cost effective solution to any new build and restoration. Ideal for working in areas with restricted access. When the ground conditions or access do not allow for traditional excavation, which means traditional footings are not an option, Piling is a great alternative to achieve the required results

These can range from 100mm diameter through to 220mm diameter.

Steel cased driven piles are usually used to support new foundations or underpin existing structures on soft or unstable ground.

Piles are installed using a drop hammer rig or a grundomat. The grundomat is a great machine used for restricted access piling – As long as a person can access the area, Piling can be undertaken/

Pile diameters and approximate working
loads are as follows:

  • 100mm diameter SWL 50KN – Grundomat driven
  • 150mm diameter SWL 100KN – Grundomat driven
  • 220mm diameter SWL 300KN – Drop hammer driven

There are many factors that affect what foundations are required to guarantee the desired building load.

Piling is a process which drills much deeper, therefor, influences in the upper stratum of the ground do not affect the results of piling works. Piling is suitable for practically any environment, it provides minimum hassle, minimum excavation and is better for the environment. Cemplast offer a full design and install service for all customers

Where the ground is suitable, a concrete raft reinforced by steel can be used to spread the load of a building over a large area. This raft is usually the footprint of a building.

Strip Foundations

When ground is suitable, and piles are not needed; Secure Piling Solutions can use the technique of a Traditional Strip Footing. This involves digging a trench to the necessary depth to find solid ground, a layer of concrete is then poured.

Retaining walls

A cantilever retaining wall is one that consists of a wall which is connected to a foundation. A cantilever wall retains soil/earth and prevents the earth from sliding or eroding away. The wall is cast in concrete
